Dave,

Tim was thanking Nancy Giffin for this post:

Subject: [Dixielandjazz] Silly stuff

A bit of tonugue-in-cheek humor forwarded from a trad musician.
Happy New Year, everyone.
Love and hugs,
Nancy

Forwarded message:
There's a movie called, "It's Trad, Dad" on Turner Classic Movies (TCM
channel) tonight...might have to change my plans! set your VCR recorder
timers! spread the word! sounds like a classic good/bad flick...

8 P.M. (Turner Classic Movies) ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK (1956).
TCM pumps up the volume with an evening of schoolhouse rock, starting
with
this caper in which a big band promoter discovers Bill Haley and the
Comets
at a high school dance and tries to aim them toward the stars.

9:30 P.M. In ³IT¹S TRAD, DAD!² (1962), at 9:30, Helen Shapiro and Craig
Douglas play teenagers organizing a jazz festival in their staid town
over
objections from the mayor.

Thanks to Nancy, I watched "It's Trad, Dad" too. I never would have
otherwise. A simplistic, cute little film with lots of music by the likes
of Kenny Ball, Aker Bilk, Temperance 7, Dukes of Dixieland, etc.

Jerry
