Hello all

Dave Richoux's mention of Stefan Sargent jogged my memory and took me back
to 1959!

At that time Sargent and Robert Parker were co-owners of a recording
company in Sydney (Oz) - Sonic Laboratories. They recorded the 14th
Australian Jazz Convention (Cootamundra, December 1959) and I still have an
acetate of some of the performances. The recording quality is first-class,
albeit mono. I suspect that Sargent was the "brains" in the organisation
and I can't help but wonder what he thinks of Parker's (subsequent) efforts
at restoration

Another "link" is that Sargent was married to a friend of mine from
university.

Having had my memory jogged, I'll now have to transcribe the acetate for
the Australian Jazz Archive, as I promised Bill Haesler some time ago   :-)
