Hi Pat and Listmates,
You quoted me as saying "Scottish people are the tallest compared to other
people in the world wearing kilts."
I'm not the author of that quote.
It may have been part of an e-mail to which I was responding and which was
included at the end of some posting of mine, but I didn't pen that
particular quotation.
You also said (about me): "dont let la Gunter rile you. He means hardly
anything he says and
will agree to /or dispute anything to get a laugh."
While it's true that I like to see the lighter, risible side of things, I
generally do mean what I say. If I take a stand against somebody posting
sweeping generalizations such as -
"U.S. citizens know less about the rest of the planet than the citizens of
any other nation--if one compares citizens of equivalent education and
intelligence."
Or
"the level of jazz in Europe is much higher than in the U.S.A. Most bands
in Europe are just superiour to U.S.A.-bands."
then I would be quite likely to poke fun at such foolish observations. But I
would mean what I say.
Remember the basic rule: "All sweeping generalizations are false . . .
including this one!"
Respectfully submitted,
Bill "gravitas" Gunter
