I don't think anyone doubts that these jobs are difficult -- I certainly wouldn't want the task. The job should probably come with automatic allocations of valium!

Question: I'm not familiar with the individuals involved and a quick web search turned up nothing for a "west coast jazz festival" except for something in BC. Was the original poster talking about the OC Classic in Costa Mesa or possibly Mammoth?

Please let's not lose perspective. There would be no festival without John
Diebald and Connie Baker. Neither of them happen to be close friends of mine
but I doubt if either of them get up in the morning deciding to irritate
people that day. I suspect all of us have done or said what others consider
inappropriate at one time of other. When I was an employer I found myself barking
at employees and customers when the pressure was turned up. I know a little
about these people. John runs a large private business. He has plenty to do
without the festival. He has freely stated that the festival enterprise is only
a break-even venture for the love of the music. Beating these people up may
not be as appropriate as first thanking them followed by a suggestion on how
to improve it.
