Anyone we know playing this gig? The parade draws 250,000 live audience and
will be broadcast on ESPN2 to who knows how many. (see paragraph 2)

500 Festival Parade taking shape

The floats don¹t build themselves. With just a month to go before this
year¹s 500 Festival Parade, teams of designers and builders are hard at work
on the lineup for May 27.

At float-builder Expo Design on the Southside today, Marilyn Balser and
Dorothy Dorato painted the "waves" for the American Queen riverboat float.
The float is 63 feet long, 22 feet high, and 18 feet wide and will carry a
live Dixieland band aboard.

The parade, which is broadcast on ESPN2, regularly draws an estimated
quarter-million people Downtown. This year¹s theme, playing off ³the
Greatest Spectacle in Racing² slogan for the Indy 500, is, ³Celebrate the
Spectacle.²
