I'll bet this was a Dixieland gig that paid well. A champagne reception and
a Dixieland Band to start things off sounds like fun as well.

Cheers,

Symphony's annual gala is Saturday

"A Night in Old New Orleans" is the theme for Everett Symphony's annual gala
dinner and auction Saturday night at the Everett Events Center.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a champagne reception to the music of a
Dixieland band and the chance to peruse and bid on the silent auction items.

Dinner begins with a Louisiana sunburst salad: mixed baby lettuces topped
with ruby port wine-soaked cranberries, candied pecans, stilton cheese and a
cinnamon-Tabasco vinaigrette. The main course is your choice of Louisiana
mixed grill (Cajun chicken breast, andouille sausage and a Creole prawn
skewer on a bed of chasseur cream, served with celeriac mashed potatoes and
chef's vegetable medley) or vegetarian plate (a colorful array of steamed
and grilled vegetables joined by a sun-dried tomato and balsamic vinegar
relish).

Then it's time for the dessert dash. Everybody at the table pools their
money, and the table with the highest amount of money gets first pick at the
donated desserts. The stingy get stuck with Twinkies.

The live auction will be conducted by nationally acclaimed auctioneer Larry
Taylor. Everything from hot air balloon rides to Alaskan cruises is on the
block.

Tickets are $75 per plate at the Everett Symphony office, 2710 Colby Ave.,
or 425-258-1605; www.everettsymphony.org and click on "Events Calendar."
Proceeds benefit the Everett Symphony.
