Hi All,
forgive the non musical post but I know we have a number of wordsmiths in our number, and several members who have a fine appreciation of a well wrought story/gag.

Just been reading a good book called Birth of a Nation by Julian Rathbone. It is good yarn in its own right but involving the hero in all sorts of real historical situations.

For instance the hero was with Darwin on the Beagle, spied for both sides at the Alamo, was on the Cherokee Trail of Tears, involved with the Donner Party, started the Klondyke Gold Rush etc,.You get the idea. Apart from that the author keeps on building in jokes. The Mexicans are chasing Sam Houston after the Alamo and one of his aides rides up to him and says `Houston, we have a problem`

You get the idea. No suggestion of music except one guy keels over drunk and says `Goodnight Irene` and a Parton appears running a stall at a Hill Billy camp meeting.

I find that the hero also figures in a previous volume. I am off to get it tomorrow.

Enjoy

Pat
