Hey all,
I took Steve's advice and when I heard there was going to be a Katrina
benefit in Las Vegas, I called and asked if they were going to have any
traditional jazz/New Orleans music...they said no but they were open to the
idea (as a matter of fact, in addition to being the "opening act" for the
show, they've asked us to play the show finale -- When The Saints Go
Marchin' In. I put together a great bunch of guys and we'll be performing
tomorrow night at Spring Mtn. Ranch -- if anyone's going to be in the Las
Vegas area, we'd love to see you there -- and since it's a freebie and a
long drive for lots of the guys, I went to my favorite Italian restaurant
(Carrabba's) and asked them what they'd charge me to feed my band --and
dinner is on the house for us!
Also, I wanted to call Bill Richards because I heard he's in Las Vegas
now but I don't have his phone number. Does anyone on the DJML have it? I
called Jim Fitzgerald and he said I was the first call he'd gotten to gig in
four months (unfortunately, he's already working on Saturday night doing
something for Valley High School so he won't be playing with us). Here's the
info:
