[Dixielandjazz] Question about the schedule for Wine Country Jazz Fest (Rohnert Park, CA)

Since I picked up this message Monday, it is academic that the info was
on the festival web site. Since I have never met Art, I wouldn't have
known if I saw him at the Wine Country Jazz Festival. A few of our
listmates were there including Rae Ann Hopkins-Berry, Karen Brooks and
Ben Fowlkes. Possibly others who I don't know or didn't see.

I thought the festival was fantastic. IMO and most of the others I
talked to, the biggest problem was deciding which of the great bands to
see at a given time. John Gill's Yerba Buena Stompers were my favorite,
and my first opportunity to hear Jon-Erik Kelso.

For the Ballroom Dancers, we had a 3 set Saturday night dance with the
San Francisco Starlight Orchestra, a Paul Whiteman/Gene Goldkette
re-creation.

There was a reunion of the Paramount Jazz Band from Boston with a couple
of people missing, Ray Smith was apparently not up to the trip, and Gary
Rodberg, who I understand is a doctor in Biloxi and was OK, but suddenly
very busy. Various others filled in on reeds and drums, including
former listmate Chris Tyle on drums.

Other bands included Buck Creek from Virginia, and west coast bands,
Golden Eagle, Black Swan, High Sierra, Devil Mountain and Bob Shulz'
Frisco Band. We also had a surprise band from Japan, Miyoko and her
Traditional Jazz Band. A group of young very talented musicians led by
a young lady on banjo, who played some very traditional stuff.

Listmate Bob Roman's youth band the Barkin' Dogs played two sets to
rave reviews. And we had Le Jazz Hot a Grapelli/Django type quartet.

All in all a great line up.
