Hello all

A few days ago, Bill Haesler gave us the details of the splendid 1954 MGM
cartoon "Dixieland Droopy". And today Steve the B mentions Shorty Rogers.

Pow! "Three Little Bops" comes to mind immediately.

This 1957 Warner Bros Looney Tunes is superb. The story is that of the
"Three Little Pigs" and the narration and all the voices are done by Stan
Freberg. The cartoon is revolutionary in having virtually no sound effects
- Shorty Rogers and a small combo provide the sound.

The musicianship in general, and Rogers' playing in particular, are
brilliant and it's wonderful that such high quality work is preserved in
the guise of a "children's cartoon".

Rogers did a lot of composing for movies and is a good example of the
extraordinarily high quality of the "session men" who were part of the
studio system.

All the best
Anton
