[Dixielandjazz] Sitting In

Loved Elazar's stories about sit-ins who were hard to get rid of. We had one
at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City recently. 70 year old man give or
take. Dressed a little flaky and danced in front of band. Then followed us
around Casino for two days, dancing, ogling the ladies etc. We couldn't get
rid of him and since we are "independent contractors" (1099, not employees)
we were reluctant to get tough with a Casino customer.
Followed us into one of the Restaurants where the manager was a smallish
Italian. But . . tough. He knew we were trying to shed the interloper and
went up to the dancer and nicely explained that he was unwelcome. Dancer
protested, etc., said he was entitled to perform free, etc., etc.
Manager had a enough. Grabbed the guy by the lapels and softly, but
viciously said: Look A.. H..., Let me put this so you will understand.
Then he got up close and personal in the dancers face and said: "Get the
F... outta here and don't ever come back or bother the guys in the band,
because if you do, it will be your last act"
We never saw the dancer again. Apparently he took it as an offer he couldn't
refuse. Love those Italians.
Cheers,
