Oh my yes, Dave. You nailed that thread shut. Makes no difference what
instrument one uses to play jazz. There are no rules about which is a jazz
instrument and which is not. Or whether one must gliss on trombone or not.
It is all about vocabulary.
Instrumentation limitations are all personal opinion, not dictum. Who can do
what, with what instrument, is up to the player, and the audience. Whether
an individual likes it or not is unimportant because the player is not doing
it specifically for that individual.
Examples of musician creativity with supposedly "Non-Jazz" instruments are
all around the world of jazz. Including Didgeridoo.
