someone's attention with the slide.  I can even pick up my wah-wah mute
using the spit valve on the end of the slide, saving my having to bend
over.

 
Trombones rule!

Don't forget the infinite chances to play out of tune, something soprano
saxes manage without any slides at all! Definition of a minor second: two
sopranos playing in unison. :-)
