[Dixielandjazz] Baritone as Trombone?

We live in a resort area, so people come and go.  Our band has been 
consistent for a year now, but we've had trouble finding a trombone 
player.  We thought we had one, but he hasn't returned from his 
primary residence.  Soooo....we asked a baritone player to rehearse 
with us this week.  Not only is he a fine musician (and can double on 
trumpet), but the baritone sounds very similar to the trombone.  No 
glissing, of course, but I was pleased with the results of our 
musician experiment.

Anyone else have any experience with a baritone in a Dixieland band?
