Needles are those lovely mild steel things that we used to play 78s, once
only (!)

Hi Anton,
did anyone,ever, only use a needle once? I remember that they were a 
b******r to pick up if you dropped a tin of them on the hearthrug.

If you were a really switched on hi-fi buff you could buy fibre needles 
which came in a pack of about 10 with a strip of sandpaper to sharpen the 
needles up again.

I certainly remember using thorns from a hawthorn bush because the fible 
needles were quite expensive.
