[Dixielandjazz] Expanding Our Audience

To add to the many interesting and useful posts about reaching an audience
for OKOM. . . . .

We have recently performed as part of two benefit concerts for Katrina
victims and were the only OKOM band on those programs. The audiences were
involved and receptive and we enjoyed playing for them and, who knows, maybe
some gigs will come back to us for these efforts.

In a really mixed program, we are performing at Geronimo! in Teaneck, NJ on
Saturday, November 12 from 7 to 8:30 PM. The benefit is for the
Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and there is a $10 door charge which goes to that
benefit completely. For the balance of the program and, as I informed those
on my mailing list, "If you are allowed to stay up later than 8:30 PM, stick
around to hear "Forbidden Fruit" - Funk/Rock/Reggae Fusion."

As the Monty Python saying goes, "And now, for something completely
different . . . " Maybe we can convert some of their early arrivals.
