[Dixielandjazz] DJMLers on Cape Cod, MA?

We'll be moving year-'round to Cape Cod in the next year or so, after having had a summer
cottage there for the past 45 years.

I have noticed that there is practically no OKOM being performed on Cape Cod with any
regularity.

There are no venues like the Sherborn Inn in Sherborn, MA, or the Bridgwaye Inn in
Marshfield, that engage any of the really good area bands like the Ancient Mariners, New
Black Eagles, Blue Horizon, Pete Collins, Jeff Hughes 'Hot Toddies, Monte Carlo Jazz
Ensemble, New Liberty, Paramount, Squirrel Hill Ole Tyme Band, Wolverines, Riverboat
Stompers, and others, on a regular basis.

The good bands are available. A regular Cape Cod venue for bands like these is not.

The Bridgwaye is an example of the kind of venue I'd like to see on the Cape: a restaurant,
with alcoholic beverages available, a separate room for OKOM seating and performance, a
good menu and good food at reasonable prices. OKOM bands are booked the first 3
Sundays of the month, from 4-7 PM, except 6-9 PM in July and August. Cover: $10/person.

Go to any OKOM performance and look around at the audience. Mostly older people like
me. Seems to me the Cape, with its significant year-'round population of retirees, has the
ideal demographic for OKOM performances.

So I'd like to get an idea of how many Cape residents are subscribers to this fine maillist,
DJML, as I begin to talk to Cape folks about providing the venue that is so sorely needed.

Please let me know -- off-line is fine.
