The Pennsylvania Recreation and Park Society (PRPS), Division III in Eastern
Pennsylvania has a mini exposition each year at one of the local townships.
It draws upwards of 100 executives/administrators from about 50 local parks
and townships within 100 miles of my house. Most of these offer venues for
musical programs during the summer.

It costs me $50 to set up a table top display of what Barbone Street offers
by way of a musical concert ( 1 to 2 hours). Last year I handed out 31 info
packets and got 4 NEW gigs, plus our usual repeats. We did a total of 22
park/township concerts last summer. All pay well. This year's expo is
December 9 from 9:30 AM to noon and you can be sure I am exhibiting again.
A newly formed Dixieland Band also got 3 dates from this expo last year.

THERE ARE PROBABLY RECREATION AND PARK SOCIETY ASSOCIATIONS IN YOUR STATE.
For example, I google searched <California Recreation and Park Society> and
came up with a web site. They are in Sacramento. (CRPS)

I suggest that interested bands might check out their States for branches
and contact them to see if there is a similar mini expo, or a maxi expo, or
a mailing list of Park & Recreation Departments in local townships, cities
and boroughs. NOW IS THE TIME TO DO IT IF YOU ACTIVELY SEEK GIGS THERE.

The bigger your metro area, or state, the more business you can do. This is
Jazz, America's music, an Art Form invented here, everybody loves it, July
4, waive the flag, etc., etc., etc.

California, Texas, et. al., should be a gold mine for these concerts.

Cheers,
Steve
