While listening to the Chicago radio broadcast I mentioned here last week
(Chuck Schaden's "Those Were the Days") in which the Bob Crosby band was
featured in several broadcasts from the '30s and early '40s, Schaden
mentioned that he had received an email from Ed Metz stating that he had
heard that the show was going to be broadcast.

Schaden said he phoned and told him about the live stream and that he said
he would play some stuff by the current Bob Cats if he sent a CD. He got
the CD overnight, and so in the middle of the broadcast Schaden played the
current band's versions of "Big Crash from China" and "Big Noise from
Winnetka." Schaden and his big band expert were impressed.

Schaden also mentioned the tour the band had recently made through several
Midwestern cities and their appearance at the Elkhart (IN) Jazz Festival
June 24-26.

It was fun hearing the juxtaposition of the original and current versions of
the Bob Cats. I don't know if Ed Metz got his information from my email to
the list, but I'm glad he found out about it by whatever method. The story
and the cuts from the CD really enhanced the show.

(If anyone is interested in hearing the entire show, it will be on Schaden's
web site for a week beginning Tuesday: www.nostalgiadigest.com
<http://www.nostalgiadigest.com/> - click on "Those Were the Days."
