[Dixielandjazz] Solos and applause

Hello all
I agree with Steve B that "Shaw speaks (only) for Shaw", but I also happen
to agree with Shaw.
The comparison with classical music is interesting. Yes, audiences do now
clap between movements of symphonies etc but I have NEVER heard an audience
applaud at the end of a solo passage in an instrumental concerto - not even
at the end of a cadenza.
As for jazz, the solution to the solo/applause problem is simple - don't
play solos :-)
If only .....
