I think this "copyright infringement" has actually stimulated the sales
increase. With the rise of portable digital players, MP3 CDs and
internet download sites, a much broader and deeper selection of music is
available. Instead of being forced to choose from among the Hot 100, now
we can buy almost any album -- or single tune -- we want. Then we buy
more of it.
Will music industry moguls understand this, or will they continue
strangling these new distribution channels? I think the companies that
insist on the old ways will find themselves in the buggy-whip business.
