If California Bands wish to get an eye opener about programs for kids in
Schools, you might click the below web site about VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS
programs by the California Department of Education.

http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/mumain.asp

Note especially that:

1) IN GRADE ONE THE KIDS STUDY IMPROVISATION

2) IN GRADE TWO THEY "RESPOND TO A LIVE PERFORMANCE".

ETC . (Check out all the other grades)

Is it possible that a band presenting "Jazz, America's Music" could somehow
be relevant in this learning environment? Why not be the "live performance"
referred to in Grade Two? Etc., etc., etc.

Seems to me the state that is home to much of the VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS
Industry is the ideal place to present "Jazz Appreciation For Kids", IN
SCHOOLS, from K to K12.

And also a worthwhile endeavor that should be supported by all of the Jazz
Societies in the State. A program that develops the AUDIENCE, is that such
an impossible dream? Put on your Nikes and just do it .

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
