Dear Anton,
I have "Sissy Man Blues" by Kokomo Arnold (Jan 1935) on LP but not the
Pinewood Tom (Josh White) "Sissy Man". I think the Pinewood Tom is on a
Stash LP ST-118 and also (I think) a Jass CD.
I also have "Sissy Man Blues" by Connie McLean (April 1936) on CD and George
Noble (March 1935) on LP.
Both the Josh White and Kokomo Arnold have also been covered chronologically
by Document CD, which our friend Tony Standish may have in stock. (It's
Tony's KOM.) I have the Document catalogue details.
Champion Jack's "She's Jail Bait" comes from his last recording session for
Bullseye (CDBB9522). He died in Jan 1992 and the session was studio recorded
sometime the year before, so far as I can find.
"She's Jail Bait", which I think is a Roosevelt Sykes ('The Honeydripper')
song, was first recorded by him for Bluebird on 9 Oct 1945 as "Date Bait".
He recorded it again (as "She's Jail Bait") in Memphis in 1957 and as "Jail
Bait" for Bluesville in Nov 1960.
You are welcome to copies of what I have, but hopefully, you will choose to
transcribe the words yourself. 8>)
Regards,
Bill.
