repairable, donated musical instruments for the North Sacramento School
District Music Department. There are over 5,000 students in the district,
and these donated intruments would benefit 5th and 6th grade students
there.
There is a high element of irony here. Let's see . . .
Sacramento = home of the largest live jazz music (as in musicians performing
on real instruments) festival in the world . . .
a city where they directly reap the benefit of the gift of music and real
musicians performing on real musical instruments EVERY SINGLE YEAR . . .
not only the benefit of enjoyment and culture, but also the benefit of
$$$$$$$$$$$ in the local economy . . .
and the government, teachers & teachers union, school board, parents and
business owners CAN'T COUGH UP THE BREAD TO PROVIDE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR
THEIR OWN KIDS???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give me a break!
You're soliciting donations for the wrong people. And yes, I know you and
the boy scout meant well, but when are you going to get it that some folks just
never will "get it"?
If people in that community can't grasp the value of a musical education and
the art/gift of music, then it would be the equivalent of giving a million
bucks to a street whino!
I can't believe that if the parents won't pay to rent or buy or borrow an
instrument for the kid, that they'll have the where-with-all to make sure the
kid gets the proper lessons/instruction on it either.
ANYplace but Sacramento.
Sorry, but I had to vent on that!
