Wow!
One-eyed Bill and Steve Brashbone actually agree, COMPLETELY, on a jazz
subject!!!
(We already see eye-to-eye about things like girls, girls and.......girls!)
I was about to reply in a similar vein, using the Louis Armstrong quotes,
but my mate Steve has saved me the trouble of putting it all down.
I too (like Don Robertson) have always loved the Lombardo Oct 1930 "St Louis
Blues". Ever since I first heard it, frequently, on the wireless during 'the
war'.
Guy Lombardo is well represented in my record collection, as he should be.
And not just a few 1930s records.
The first Lombardo sides, made in 1924 included such titles as "Cotton
Pickers Ball" and "Mama's Gone Goodbye". There was more of the same in the
later 20s.
>From then on the list is still worth checking out.
Kind regards,
Bill.
