When I was growing up in New York and New Jersey, Chuck was THE MAN.  In
1976, I bought a bass through a referral from my teacher, Homer Mensch.  I
took it to Chuck at his shop in Greenwich Village and he worked absolute
wonders with it.  The bass virtuoso Gary Karr used to (and still may) take
the 1611 Amati he received as a gift from Koussevitzky to Chuck.
