Dear Ed,
In connection with the current thread regarding the WWL (vintage) radio
broadcasts you said in part: >The show's theme song was a great version of
the New Orleans tune originally recorded by Louis Armstrong's Hot Five, "Yes
I'm In the Barrel," by Tony Parenti, and I've been looking for that record
ever since.<
Easy, I thought.
Look it up in the Parenti discography and send the details.
But, it is not shown in any of my files!!
Why?
Was is a recording or itself taken from a broadcast?
I have a few of these NOJC broadcasts and checked the theme.
No doubt it is what you say it is.
Certainly sounds like Tony Parenti to me.
Could it be (renamed as) "Tap Room Blues" by Preacher Rollo & the Five
Saints made in March 1953 for an MGM LP?
Someone out there has the answer.
Kind regards,
Bill.
