Slowly but surely, jazz seems to be worth more these days than a few years
ago. At least in NYC. Barbone Street too, has also raised our prices for the
second year in a row here in the Philadelphia area. Thank you Wynton
Marsalis and Ken Burns for increasing the awareness of Jazz among the "jazz
oblivious" general public.
Note the following audience prices at clubs in NYC, where even the old guys
are drawing a crowd. (Barbieri, Brookmeyer, Heath & Hall):
Today's marketing tip: RAISE YOUR PRICES, especially if you are OLD.

GATO BARBIERI (Tuesday through June 12) Blue Note, 131 West Third Street,
West Village, cover, $35 at tables, $20 at the bar, with a $5 minimum.
BILL CHARLAP TRIO (Tuesday through June 12) 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., with an
additional set at 11:30 on Friday and Saturday; Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola,

MARC COPLAND /DAVE LIEBMAN DUO (Sunday) Sweet Rhythm, 88 Seventh Avenue
South, at Bleecker Street, West Village, cover, $15, plus a $10 minimum.
JIM HALL WITH GEOFFREY KEEZER (Wednesday through June 11)Birdland, 315 West
44th Street, cover, $30, $40 June 10 and 11, plus a $10 minimum all nights.

FRED HERSCH DUO SERIES a sharp and sophisticated pianist, with a different
melodic counterpart. Next week's lineup includes the multi-reedists Chris
Potter (on Tuesday) and Ted Nash (Wednesday) and the trombonist Bob
Brookmeyer (Thursday). 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., with an 11:30 set tonight and
Saturday, Jazz Standard, 116 East 27th Street, Manhattan, (212) 576-2232,
cover, $20, $25 June 10 and 11.
