[Dixielandjazz] Playing for Regular Folks

See below letter from the regular folks about the power of OKOM. Those
"dancing kids" Beverly refers to are the ones some of us bitch about. The
kids who some claim don't hear or appreciate this music like we do. We had
more than 60 kids - pre teens & teens, dancing.

OKOM is like sex. If your partner (or audience in this analogy) doesn't like
it, you ain't doin it right. :-) VBG.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone

Dear Steve,

Thank you and Jonathan Russell for helping to make the Wilmington
Independence Day Celebration such a success. Your band, as usual, was
terrific and young Jonathan was once again superb.

The crowd at Dravo Plaza loved it and it was marvelous to see all those kids
dancing to your music. I'm glad your wife helped out with the bead throwing
since I was unable to do so.

The Mayor also asked me to congratulate you on both this performance and on
the TV segment you did with Ace & Sonny on June 9 in memory of Clifford
Brown. Plan it again for 2006.
