A "tonne" is a metric ton - 1000 Kg or 2204 lbs.
And watching American films on the Beeb is quaint. They have to (or
had to) run them at 25 frames per second to sync with their 50 Hertz
line frequency. Voices are thus 4% fast, noticeable (to me) on the
original "Star Trek".
