THE EXCELSIOR JAZZ BAND

To complete a 'double' Clevedon Jazz Club plays host to another of the Bristol jazz scenes stalwarts on 10 March - The Excelsior Jazz Band. In the old Rugby Club days Excelsior were a regular feature and always gave a 'good show' for the audience. This will be their second appearance at Clevedon Jazz Club's Walton Park Hotel venue., as well as featuring in the Triangle during Long Weekend 2003.

The Excelsior Jazz Band was formed several years ago and they were one of the resident bands at Bristol's world famous jazz pub, The Old Duke, in Kings Street for many years.

The scope of this six piece band's repertoire lies within the Traditional spectrum, with numbers drawn from New Orleans through to standards from Dixieland as well as some Ellingtonian material.

As well as their residency at The Old Duke, the band have appeared live on radio and at many local and national jazz festivals. They have recorded and have supported such well known names as Roy Williams, Danny Moss, Acker Bilk and Alan Elsdon.

The doors open at 8pm, the music starts at 8.30pm and its £6 'on the door'.
