Don, and all--

Yes, that was once Claiborne Towers--first a hotel with a lounge, than
a residency mainly for retirees, apparently devolving over the years to
a rat trap under other names. I'm glad it's cleaned up and back in biz
with jazz. From around 1963-67, I played Friday and Saturday nights
with a commercial sax-organ-drums trio at the Golliwog, the street
level lounge at Claiborne Towers. Our best break, bedsides having a
2-night-a-week gig, was that Armand Hug played Sundays through Fridays.
So during our breaks I got to hear him do his wide piano repertoire,
from ragtime to cocktail music to great swinging standards.
