OK Hal,

You continue the discussion by observing:

>What I'm saying is that these songs have, over the years,
>become solely associated with Christmas when, in fact, they actually have
>nothing to do with Christmas at all.

If you know this as a fact, then, by extension you must know exactly what
Christmas is. You'd have to, wouldn't you, in order to ascertain that some
songs have nothing to do with it.

So, please tell us what Christmas IS.

On the other hand, perhaps there is a larger point behind your assertion
that these songs have nothing to do with Christmas. However, if that's the
object then I must admit I'm somewhat unclear as to what you're trying to
tell me.

ps - I just got back from shopping down at WalMart a few minutes ago. There
was a large contingent of Christians picketing the place. Must of been a
couple of dozen of them. They were carrying signs that said things like
"Boycott WalMart - They've removed the word 'Christmas' from all their ads.
They've declared war on Christmas."

There were TV cameramen there recording the activities. Must be a big news
story.

Lots of folks used to get upset because Christmas was becoming too
commercialized.

Now they're getting upset because Christmas is not being used commercially

Give me a break!
