One of the best recordings of the later Armstrong IMHO is Ambassador Satch. 
This was done around 1955 or 1956, live in Europe.

It was one of my favorite CDs when I was a teenager.

Louis recorded so many great things through out his career that it is hard 
to choose one.  But the Ambassador Satch has the spirit & drive because it 
was a live recording.

Another great CD, which was not live, is Satch Plays Fats.
