I have an aversion to CD or financial database programs that use
proprietary data formats. If the program itself gets corrupted, you're
stuck. It's probably ok if you can export the data to standard format--.dbf
or standard format spreadsheets, or even delimited text files.

I've used Lotus APPROACH for years, which allows you to create your own
databases and custom viewing/input screens. There are other programs
available that don't carry the MS ACCESS baggage.

One of the (what I see as) problems with such programs as they tend to
scatter the data over smaller sub-databases. I like to be able to view a
track fecord that has all the info. I have an Albums.dbf and various track
files; Albums.dbf includes a library number (eg. CD1966) for each item, and
all track records include the respective library number.

is my personal website, and has a page entitled something like "CD Catalogs".
