Re; Carol's description of the gymnastics of the Ladies Porta Pottie left out one other scenario.
 
I can not vouch for the following, however it was described to me at one time in the past by a very knowledgeble lady.
 
Closing the door ahint you  and then standing on the surround, dropping whatevah necessary garments, being carefull not to slip through the open orifice, aiming for said orifice and performing the gymnastic trick of descending to said floor after avoiding trickeling down your leg. Tall women do not do this procedure well. Having been in the Orient, aimimg is not too difficult.
 
Most "Porta Potties have an outside hand washing sink with towels provided.
 
The above procedure has been utilized by many a lady even in non-primitive locations.
