[Dixielandjazz] Broken Promises

I was a camper at the Jazz Camp in Moodus, CT a couple of weeks ago. One of the lead
sheets were given was for a tune named "Broken Promises".

The type-set sheet had the lyrics and the melody notes, but was unusual in that the melody
was shown in the bass clef.

I transcribed it to the treble clef.

Been trying to find out something about the tune, which is very nice when played at medium
tempo, and can't find anything on the Web -- nada.

I can send a copy of a jpg of the hand-scrawled lead sheet I prepared to anyone who can
shed some light on the history of the tune.

Here are the lyrics:

Verse:

I gave my heart, and I believed
That I would never be deceived
    But lovers' promises may be
    Wishful thinking fantasy

Chorus:

    Broken promises mean broken hearts
Broken words, that's how each teardrop starts
Promises that never could come true
I believed them -- what else was I to do?
Vows we made, you took them all in vain
Love to you was just a passing game
When you promised me we'd never part
You broke your promise and my heart.
