Subject: Classic Jazz Song List

Hi everyone,

For a class project, I'm trying to put together a list of important songs
from the swing era and before, say the late teens through 1945, to share
with some college students. Most are age 18-25, music therapy students
trying to build repertoire; they have the fake books but have no clue as to
which songs were the popular ones, which artists did them, who wrote them,
etc. I thought that asking the band, friends, fans, families, writers,
producers and media about this music would produce an incredible wealth of
material that could help the students get started.

If you'd be willing to fill in some tunes (and the bands/composers if you
have that info) based on the categories listed below, I'll compile them into
a list to give out to the entire group. I have to hand it in by May 16,
so..... if you feel like contributing, thanks! It would be an incredible
act of musical community service!
