Hi all,

My mother, the wonderful, intelligent, ravishing human being that she
is, has talked to the manager of the Blue Water Resort and Casino in
Parker, AZ about hiring us on Aug. 3, just before the Orange County shin
dig. Because his wife is a friend of my mother's, they are considering
it. Just curious; how many of you live close enough to even consider
going? Even my mother -- resident of Big River, CA just across the
river -- won't be there as she will be setting up in Orange County.

If you don't know Parker, the most happenin' place is the Safeway
supermarket. People go outside when a plane lands on the airstrip. I
doubt they pay worth the trouble to get there, but even if they did, I
doubt there would be more than 10 in the audience. We'll see how
everything goes.

A couple of years ago, I was visiting my mother with my older daughter
(she was my only at the time). We went to the Blue Water, which is an
Indian Casino, for dinner and stumbled upon a regional powwow. There
must have been 1000 indians from several tribes all decked out to the
hilt in traditional garb. At one point, about 100 of them started
singing with just two simple animal skin drums. It was far from jazz,
but there was as much soul in what they did as any gospel choir. My
daughter was three and that night was the only memory she has of that
trip. Absolutely magical.

All the best, Gary
