Interesting subject. I had the opportunity to talk with George Buck about
OKOM and the different types of jazz and its denomination. He said to me
that for him OKOM is authentic jazz, actually is the word he is using to
describe his label. He also pointed the it is also ´´contemporary´´ music
because is played today and even composing (Tim Laughlin made a CD of new
OKOM).
I also talked with Lionel Ferbos about and with his humbleness of ever he
said to me ´´all is music´´.
Now, for me Not OKOM are Cajun, different types of R&B, rock, Latin sound,
fusion, be bop, blue grass and rap and other ´´modern´´, and that is my
about 80 % playing at jazz festivals. I am not saying that is good or bad.
Fortunately, as Steve pointed, many people can hear OKOM at those festivals.
