[Dixielandjazz] New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival - OKOM

Not arguing the point about the relative worth of Festivals, here is a list
of OKOM at N.O. Jazz & Heritage . Some DJMLers may be unfamiliar with many
of these performers. They are part of a whole other OKOM scene out there.

I believe just about all of the below are OKOM. Many are black players of
which we are generally not aware. Some are giants. They all appear in the
"Economy Hall Tent" venue. (There may be more, elsewhere)

As the promo piece says, there is something for everybody at this festival
and the OKOM lineup is not only different, but certainly as strong as any
presented in the USA, given the presence of folks like Nicholas Peyton, Pete
Fountain, Tim Laughlin, Kermit Ruffins, Banu Gibson, Gregg Stafford, Jack
Fine, Dr. Michael White, Preservation Hall, Evan Christopher, Don Vappie,
Marcus Belgrave etc.

To say nothing of ALL THE OTHER MUSIC, Funeral Bands, Brass Bands, Mardi
Gras Indians, Blues, Zydeco, Modern Jazz etc., etc., etc., that will be
there. Truly a bargain.

Perhaps the most interesting festival around regarding the origins of jazz?
Lots of N.O. style jazz PLUS 5 MARCHING BAND PARADES EVERY DAY.

Biggest drawback? Probably too many attendees.

BTW for the Sacto Jubilee goers, MARIA MULDAUER is there also on May 1 with
a tribute to Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
