Hmmm, my first reaction would be to ask "which notes should be
eliminated."

A more considered reply is that technical fireworks have long been a
part of the Chicago Style of jazz.  It's an interesting variety -- the
ensemble style is very tricky to get right, especially with four horns
-- but it's really about the soloists, and the better Chicago Style
soloists are willing and able to deploy a flurry of notes when the
heat's turned up.

Bob Romans, It may be that you prefer a different style of jazz, one
less mainstream than what you heard on the broadcast.  No problem with
that.  But many of us think that Sandke and friends are the shizznit!
