[Dixielandjazz] Listening to OKOM is absolutely essential

I agree with you John. I've only had 57 years of listening to jazz, so what will happen when I've been listening as long as Steve I don't know.
I was captivated by the music in 1947, and after a short while by the playing of Johnny Dodds. I have an almost complete collection of the records on which he plays, and some years ago I made ten cassettes with his music in chronological order. These I play in the car at every opportunity, and still hear new things at each playing. It's a combination of his unique timbre (particularly in the high register), his melodic invention, his intensity, and his perfect pitch that puts him on a pinnacle as far as I'm concerned.
My car stereo is on the point of collapse, and I don't know whether car stereos with a cassette player are still available, so I might have to re-record the entire Johnny Dodds collection on CD.

Cheers

Bob Smith
