Hi Butch, which recordings? I have some in the early 50s, a few on a blue
note box set of hot jazz and an old LP of, I think material from the late
50s, but the beat is mainly that relentless ride. I have the Jazz at Vespers
CD, but he is on brushes for that. The only other Watkins I have is with
Cap'n John Handy, where the band (with Kid Howard) really does cook. Reason
for such a small collection? - If I see Watkins on a CD I usually pass it
over - same goes for the Louis All-stars with Danny Barcelona. There is just
much better stuff about and life is too short!!
