In the on going effort to get more OKOM groups to try and get this music back
into the mainstream, some of you bandleaders should be checking out these
kind of events and try like Hell to get you acts included, if you don't try you
can bet they will not come looking for you. Ya Gotta Go where they are, and
take some Mardi Gras beads too.
At least Dan Alexander will have a few nights to catch a lot of different
music styles.

SXSW 2005 Music Festival Showcase Application Final Deadline
Austin, Texas - October 27, 2004 - The final deadline to apply to perform at
the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference and Festival, the
internationally renowned music industry event, is fast approaching. November 8, 2004 will
be here soon and so, too, should applications to perform. Over one thousand
showcasing artists and solo acts from around the globe will perform on 50 stages
over the course of five nights, March 16 - 20, 2005 in Austin, Texas.
For 19 years, SXSW has brought together musicians, record company executives,
club owners, radio programmers, journalists, publicists and countless other
people working in the music industry. The response from these participants to
the staggering array of music is consistently positive.
To apply to perform at the SXSW Music Festival, please access the website at
www.sxsw.com and fill out the application online (the following information is
also available there). Then enclose in one package a CD of original materials
(at least 3 songs), a photo, biography, and a press kit. Mail the packet to
SXSW Music Festival, P. O. Box 4999, Austin, TX 78765. Submitted materials
become the property of SXSW, Inc. and cannot be returned. The final application
deadline November 8, 2004 for domestic acts, with a fee of $20 ($30 for
hardcopy mail-in applications). Acts will be notified no later than February 7, 2005.
Some of the musical genres featured at the SXSW Music Festival include
alternative country, bluegrass, blues, country, DJ, electronic, experimental,
hip-hop, jazz, Latin, metal, pop, rock, punk, r&b, singer/songwriter, world, and
reggae.
SXSW 2005 will take place March 16-20, 2005 at the Austin Convention Center
and on stages throughout downtown Austin. In addition to the music festival,
the conference will gather music business professionals to participate in panel
discussions, workshops, one-on-one interviews and the Trade Show.
