It's no secret, Tom. The American Jazz Hall of Fame is a cooperative
undertaking of theNew Jersey Jazz Society and the Rutgers Institute
of Jazz Studes. The candidates for induction are voted on by
representatives of both organizations, plus a panel of jazz people. Dan
Morgenstern has been active since the beginng, mc-ing the presentation
ceremomy. The NJJS monthly publication, which I edited
over 15 years and first promoted the AJH of F, every year has puli-
cized the event. I find it hard to believe that Wynton and his
helpers
are unaware of it. But it always has been the practice of NewYork to
"borrow" ideas from New Jersey without acknowledging any credit.
Some things never change, I guess. Regards--
Warren Vache' Sr.
