Many thanks to you all who sent information on the above to our unstoppable list. As I said, this is in connection with my playing Piron's "Bouncing Around" on our jazz programme which I am co-hosting on Friday Oct. 8.
My Excel spreadsheet tells me that I have 1min 46 seconds to introduce the record. In addition to giving the title, we always try to give our listeners the gen on where and when the tune was recorded, who is on the date, and something interesting about one or more musicians who play. In this case it will be some facts about the three with the surname Bocage.
We've run the programme weekly now (with a summer break) since we started in November 2000, and my co-host and I alternate in picking and preparing the week's choice. His choice is mostly 30's and 40's jazz, whereas mine is mostly from the 20's and 30's, plus more recent OKOM bands. This week the OKOM is the Karelian Dixie Drive Band playing "High Society". This is the 24th version of "High Society" that I've played on the programme, and is the first that doesn't have the traditional clarinet solo, although a previous version had the clarinet solo played on a tuba!
Incidently the KDDB have their own web-site, and you can, in fact, download all their recorded music. The URL is
http://www.kddb.narod.ru
and click on "english"
Cheers
Bob Smith
