[Dixielandjazz] Report from Ann Arbor

Thanks to all of you who steered me to the jazz in Ann Arbor.

I had to squander Tuesday evening with my brother, one of his daughters
and her two small boys who reminded me why God invented handcuffs and
testosterone to bring male voices down a couple of octaves. I did not
get to either the Firefly or the Bird of Paradise.

Wednesday evening I dined at a restaurant downtown featuring "new
Chinese cuisine". About nine pip emma, I drove to the Firefly. It was
on my third trip around the block in quest of a parking space within
striking distance with my arthritic knees that there began, deep within
the recesses, nooks and crannies of my giblets, the sound and fury of a
combination soccer game and Tahitian fire dance that impelled me to head
at once to my motel, there to address the porcelain from both ends. I
did not venture out again that night.

Thursday the business that drew me to Ann Arbor was successfully
concluded in less than five minutes, so I revised my reservations and
returned home to Fort Lauderdale unjazzed but otherwise content.

My sincere thanks to all of you who offered information and advice.

Kindly,
Will Connelly
