Gene Mayl organized the Dixieland Rhythm Kings in Dayton, Ohio in the late
'40s and they have recorded many albums for Riverside, Red Onion GHB,
Audiophile, and Jazzology labels. The band has toured for more than 30
years and have carried the sounds of Dixieland Jazz to every corner of the
United States, Canada and overseas making them one of the most traveled and
oft-heard jazz groups of all time. The band’s diverse repertoire ranges
from compositions by King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton through the swing era
of Edgar Sampson and Duke Ellington. They also play the blues, New Orleans
spirituals and a little country western.

Gene has played with jazz legends Bob Scobey, Muggsy Spanier, Wild Bill
Davison, George Brunies, and many others. This is a rare opportunity to
hear a living legend of Dixieland Jazz and his band.
