Well, that's Eli--always amazing. On an old Laurie Wright calendar, one month
had a picture of Eli playing his tuba with the caption: "Doesn't he know you
can't do that with a tuba?"
Rich Matteson did the same thing when with Bob Scobey; not as a novelty but a
necessity. The piano player didn't make it to the gig on time, so the band
started with Rich sitting at the piano, tuba with one hand, piano with the
other. Remember that, Jim Beebe? Was at the Lakeview Club in Minnesota.
